From LLL in VA/WV References

Welcome to the LLL in VA/WV Resources and References pages.

La Leche League in Virginia and West Virginia provides support and encouragement to breastfeeding parents through meetings and breastfeeding cafes, by phone, in person, and through online support groups.

LLL Leaders are volunteers who have breastfed their own babies, and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to offer information and support to other breastfeeding parents.

This site was created as a place to consolidate information about the use of herbal medicines and nutritional supplements during breastfeeding, a topic that comes up often in online breastfeeding support groups. So while there are some other topics covered, they're not comprehensive—most of the emphasis is on dietary supplements.

Please keep in mind that:

  • What you find here is not official La Leche League information, unless specifically identified as coming from an LLL publication.
  • While we make an effort to link to only up-to-date, reliable websites, we can't guarantee that all of the information on those sites is correct, and we don't necessarily endorse the positions stated in the articles. Our intent is to offer a variety of sources and views so you can weigh your options and make the decisions that work best for your family.
  • What works for one family may not work for another. As always, please take what works for you and your family and leave the rest behind.
  • Please do not rely on the information on this site to make medical decisions. While we provide information about some health topics and medications, it may or may apply to your individual situation, so always check with your health care provider.

These pages are maintained by Karen VS, an LLL Leader in Virginia and the administrator of both the LLLI Breastfeeding Support Facebook group and the LLLI Mother-to-Mother Forums.

La Leche League International is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing support, encouragement, information, and education to mothers who want to breastfeed.
